How to Choose the Right Needle Loom for Your Nonwoven Line

The needle loom is the heart of a needle punching line. Picking the right configuration of pre-needle and main needle looms — matched to your material, target gram weight (GSM) and capacity — decides fabric evenness, strength and your total cost. This guide walks through the key choices.

1. Pre-needle loom vs. main needle loom

Most lines start with a pre-needle loom (YGB201) that lightly consolidates the carded web before it enters the cross lapper, then one or more main needle looms (YGB202–YGB204) that do the main punching. The pre-needle step prevents web disturbance and improves evenness. Tell us your material and GSM and we will size the combination.

2. Stroke and board area

Stroke length and needle-board area set how much fibre is interlocked per pass. Heavier fabrics (geotextile, filtration felt) need larger boards and deeper strokes; light fabrics need finer control. [Fill in: typical stroke range and board widths Huakai offers, with your product examples.]

3. Needle density and frequency
